    The Best of the Best

The Quality Home Comfort Awards provide an opportunity for contractors to display excellence in design and installation quality to the rest of the industry. But far more important, the winning contractors have been able to convey to homeowners the benefits of first-class, integrated, total comfort systems.

Winners and runners-up will be honored in St. Louis at HVAC Comfortech 2004, the national residential and light commercial HVAC seminar and comfort technology showcase. Contracting Business salutes all the entrants who provided exceptional design solutions to their customers. Ultimately, the real winners are those homeowners who receive the best combination of service and quality.

Contracting Business is proud to introduce the very best of 2004 — our Quality Home Comfort Awards.

    WINNER Retrofit / Renovation

    Form and Function Co-exist

Bringing a modern-day comfort system to an 80-year-old, 13 room, 7,595 sq.ft. colonial home was the task faced by Cottam Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc., City Island, NY. Here’s how it was done, without disturbing the home’s historical integrity.

WINNER New Construction Up to 4,000 sq.ft.

    A Jewel in the Mountains

The wooded mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania provide a beautiful setting for this new home. Yet, despite the region’s hot summers, cold winters, and allergy-causing greenery, the homeowners are always comfortable thanks to the outstanding comfort system installed by T.E.Spall & Son, Carbondale, PA.

    WINNER New Construction, 4,001 to 6,000 sq.ft.

    Comfort from the Ground Up

When their first home burned to the ground, these Pittsburgh-area homeowners had the opportunity to rebuild with just the kind of comfort system they always desired. Kennihan Plumbing and Heating, Valencia, PA stepped in and created a system that combines geothermal, forced air, and radiant into one integrated system that provides year-round comfort.

WINNER New Construction, More Than 6,000 sq.ft.

A Comfort and Efficiency Slam Dunk

This spectacular home features 9,150 sq.ft. of living area, and a 2,350 sq.ft. pavilion that houses — among other things — an indoor basketball court complete with a hardwood floor. The challenge for Sigman Heating & Air Conditioning, Belleville, IL, was to ensure comfort throughout the sprawling home, while providing the highest degree of efficiency.
