The Air Conditioning Contractors of America Educational Institute Standards Task Team announces an ANSI public review period for its standard for Mechanical Systems for Swimming Pools and Spas.

The Air Conditioning Contractors of America Educational Institute (ACCA-EI) Standards Task Team (STT) announces an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) public review period for its standard for Mechanical Systems for Swimming Pools and Spas.

This standard establishes the unique mechanical system design requirements for indoor pool and spa applications. The public review period started on December 11, 2009 and will close on January 25, 2010.

This proposed standard has been created for the mechanical and HVAC system designers and includes considerations for: envelope moisture/thermal barriers, design conditions for humid spaces, control space temperature, controlling space pressure, indoor air quality issues, engineered ventilation requirements, conditioning of outdoor and makeup air, heating and cooling loads, evaporation loads, heat recovery, water heating and water treatment, equipment choices, control options and operational strategies, supply air CFM and distribution and duct systems.

This proposed standard is referenced as BSR/ACCA 10 Manual SPS - 201x. and can be downloaded at acca.org/tech/ansi/ . Comments must be submitted using the ACCA response form (available from the same webpage), by January 25, 2010. For over forty years, ACCA has served the nationwide educational, policy, and technical interests of the small businesses who design, install, and maintain indoor environmental systems.
