WaterFurnace 7 Series Named Energy Star Most Efficient 2012

WaterFurnace International, Inc. announces that its 7 Series variable-capacity unit has achieved the Energy Star Most Efficient 2012 designation. The 7 Series joins the WaterFurnace 5 Series, Synergy3D® Series and Envision Series, all of which achieved the honor earlier in 2012.

In its second year, the Energy Star Most Efficient designation identifies and elevates the most efficient products among various Energy Star categories. To qualify, products must demonstrate efficiency performance that’s truly exceptional, inspirational or leading edge — consistent with the interests of environmentally motivated consumers and early adopters.

According to company sources, the 7 Series 700A11 is the first variable-capacity geothermal unit available for homeowners, and its 41 energy efficiency ratio (EER) and 5.3 coefficient of performance (COP) ratings are more than twice that of traditional air conditioners or heat pumps.

The 700A11 uses WaterFurnace’s InfiniSpeed technology, a soft-start variable-capacity compressor, in concert with a variable speed ECM blower and variable speed loop pump. This allows the unit to scale output to exactly the level needed rather than the “high” or “low” speeds found in normal systems.

Coleman Echelon AHV Variable-Speed Air Handler Replaces AVG Model

Johnson Controls has replaced its Coleman® Echelon AVG air handler with the Echelon AHV variable-speed single piece model. The new air handler expands the product range to include seven airflow models from 1.5 to 5 tons, providing contractors additional options to precisely match airflow and evaporator coil sizes. Larger evaporator coils used in the new model provide expanded system ratings and performance in many applications than were previously available.

Simplified control boards and electric heater kits provide features and performance homeowners require while being easy to install, service, and troubleshoot for the contractor, sources say.

    Features include:

    • Advanced variable-speed electronically commutated motor (ECM)

    • Bolt-on thermostatic expansion valve (TXV)

    • Includes EcoTrak™ technology, allowing customization of the air handler’s settings matching comfort requirements specific to different climate regions. colemanhvacdealer.com

Carrier® Introduces the Next Generation of Touch Screen Controls

Carrier introduces the Infinity® Touch Control, the next generation of touch screen communicating controls. This home comfort control provides Touch-n-Go™ programming and energy management features when used as part of a complete Carrier® Infinity heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. With integrated wireless capability, the Infinity Touch control allows homeowners to access their heating and cooling systems with a Wi-Fi network, including mobile applications supported by iPhone®, iPad® and Android™ devices.

The Infinity Touch control features a high-resolution color touch screen display. Touch-n-Go programming includes intuitive prompts and function icons so a homeowner can control the temperature, humidity, and fan speed of the Infinity system with just a touch. The Infinity Touch control allows consumers to monitor and change settings when they are away from home, stay current on maintenance schedules, and receive alerts when the system needs service. With homeowner permission, a dealer can also be named as a servicing contractor for the unit, and can see the HVAC system equipment summary and last 10 fault codes to be better prepared for a service call.
