Ierna’s Heating & Cooling Donates to Lowry Park Zoo’s Penguin Exhibit

Community-minded HVAC contractor Ierna’s Heating & Cooling, Lutz, FL, recently made a $10,000 donation to Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo African Penguin exhibit for the second year in a row.

“I grew up going to the zoo, and I take my children there now, so we thought this was a great way to share our memories with our customers and neighbors,” says Charlene Ierna, co-owner of Ierna’s Heating & Cooling, a Bryant dealer.

“Our business has always been committed to the community, and we were happy to lend a hand to the zoo,” Ierna says.

A zoo as busy as Lowry Park needs regular financial support to keep the attractions going strong. The facility hosted more than 1.1 million visitors last year. The penguin exhibit has been one of the most visited areas since it opened. The “Penguin Beach” exhibit was designed to look like the colorful beachfront properties and cabanas around Cape Town, South Africa, featuring African flowering plants and palm trees. A large banner featuring Ierna’s logo and the Bryant logo is displayed out of appreciation.

In addition to the donation, Ierna’s also held a penguin drawing contest for children. Three winners from three different age groups were chosen and they won a three-day family pack of Lowry Park passes, a special penguin encounter, and a photo with one of the animals.
“We’ve had a phenomenal response from everyone who’s been to the exhibit, and it’s been great partnering with the zoo,” says Rob Kress, Ierna’s director of marketing and public relations.

“This was a great opportunity to share Bryant and Ierna’s commitment of doing ‘Whatever It Takes’ to help a local cause,” Kress says.

In addition to the Lowry Park Zoo donation, Ierna’s has contributed to its local Meals on Wheels program and the Land O’ Lakes Little League® team. Ierna’s was named Central Pasco Chamber’s 2007 Business of the Year and is a Bryant Heating & Cooling Systems’ local Medal of Excellence winner.
