Emerson Climate Technologies Announces New HVACR Product Selection Software
Emerson Climate Technologies announced its new refrigeration product selection software tool. This tool offers the refrigeration industry a comprehensive resource for important refrigeration equipment selection, calculations, and simplified system analysis.
The product selection software tool is a PC-based integrated equipment performance and energy calculation tool. It can calculate the annual compressor performance for up to 10 compressors, guiding the user to properly select refrigeration equipment for particular applications. It has multi-lingual capabilities (English and Spanish) and provides reports via the click of a button. The software also offers many additional features including:
- Compressor performance (single or group) generation
- Downloadable compressor co-efficients
- Links to compressor bill-of-materials, compressor drawings and wiring diagrams
- Brazed plate heat exchanger selection
Weather database for over 550 U.S. and international stations, among other features.
New Residential Geothermal Drilling Rig From RigKits
RigKits announces the K60 Geothermal Drilling Rig. This unit is specially designed for restricted access residential retrofit of geothermal ground loops.
At just 5-ft. wide, the unit can get into most back yards, sources say. It has an onboard rod rack that can hold 380-ft. of 10-ft. rods and is capable of drilling over 500-ft. deep.
What separates RigKits from other manufacturers is that the equipment is sold in kit form. All the fabrication is done leaving the owner to bolt the unit together, fit the hydraulics and paint it.

Danfoss introduces the new Performer HCJ Series scroll compressors for light-commercial and commercial air-conditioning applications.
Scroll compressors in the Performer HCJ Series are designed with several new-patented features. These features include:
A patented hybrid wrap scroll wrap that allows more capacity in less space
Ductile iron scrolls and a patented carbon main bearing for enhanced reliability
A patented lower bearing ring and integrated stamped oil pan that contribute to the lowest compressor vibrations of any comparably sized compressor
An optimized motor design that offers competitive performance to address needs for increased energy efficiency.
The Performer HCJ Series scroll compressors are suitable for any R-410A air-conditioning application and are available in 7.5 TR, 9.0 TR and 10.0 TR capacities in all global voltages.
Broan 13-SEER Air Conditioners Go Micochannel
Broan has begun implementing microchannel coil technology as a running change on 2, 2.5 and 3-ton 13-SEER R-410A air conditioner models.
As opposed to traditional tube-in-fin coils with copper tubes and aluminum fins, microchannel uses an all-aluminum construction. Because of microchannel's efficiency, the coil also consumes less space. The 2-ton FS4BD Series model is 24¼-in. tall.
The smaller coil mass also means the Broan units use less refrigerant — up to 42% less than traditional 13-SEER units.
According to company sources, microchannel coils also clean up easily with just a power washer, and the single-metal design means that they resist salt spray better than conventional coils.
Two New WhisperValue™ Models from Panasonic
Available in July 2009, WhisperValue FV-10VS1 and WhisperValue-Lite™ FV-10VSL1 offer Energy Star® qualification, high airflow circulation, and low noise without compromising its slim profile.
Featuring a housing depth of just 3-3/4-in., the super-slim Panasonic WhisperValue ventilation fans can mount easily in a slim 2-in. × 4-in. joist cavity, minimizing installation times. FV-10VS1 is even UL listed for wall installation. Both FV-10VS1 and FV-10VSL1 are able to achieve a high airflow circulation of 100 CFM (cubic feet per minute) at extremely low noise levels of 1.5 sones with its 4-in. oval, round compatible duct. The FV-10VSL1 also includes two 18-watt flicker-free, compact fluorescent, 3500 Kelvin lights and a 4-watt night light.
