ABB
ABB ACH550 base drives, E-Clipse bypass units, and drives with input disconnects are now International Building Code (IBC) seismic-compliance certified. The certificate of compliance qualifies the products for use in applications and buildings in which IBC requires that seismically rated equipment be considered. While principal applications for IBC-certified drives include disaster-prone areas of North America, design parameters recommended by IBC could affect a number of facilities in public and private sectors, such as commercial office buildings, hospitals/health-care facilities, schools and education buildings, manufacturing facilities, and water/wastewater operations.

Control Products
Control Products introduces the FreezeAlarm™ with Cell-Comm™ technology. FreezeAlarms provide remote temperature monitoring of homes, vacation properties and commercial buildings. These devices protect against damage caused by HVACR equipment failure and power outages. Cell-Comm™ technology incorporates mobile phone technology that eliminates the need for a dedicated telephone landline. Remote monitoring will now be available for buildings where a landline does not exist.

The FreezeAlarm (model FA-IM) is easy to install, works on any major wireless network, and can be used by contractors to expand their monitoring services. This device automatically calls up to three phone numbers to alert of a temperature alarm condition or power failure. The user can also call into the device to check on the status of a monitored location.

Sporlan
Parker Hannifin Corporation announces a new line of plug-in refrigeration controllers — the Sporlan PSK Line.

The PSK line is a broad family of controllers intended to provide simple and reliable control to a wide variety of low temperature (<35F) and medium temperature (35 to 45F) applications.

PSK201, PSK203 and PSK204 are ideal for applications with one or two temperature sensor inputs such as a medium temperature stand-alone dairy/beverage cooler. These are one, three, and four relay (respectively) controllers. PSK203 and PSK204 have additional relays to control active defrost (either electric or hot gas bypass) and fans in low temperature applications. ¬¬

Other models in the line (PSK221, PSK231, PSK233 and PSK214) serve more complex applications, such as a reach-in freezer with electric defrost, door switches, and network communication to a central control/monitoring system.

RESIDENTIAL

AirAdvice
HomeAdvice IAQ is a web-based IAQ platform providing air quality analysis and reporting for residential HVAC contractors. The report assesses six IAQ parameters for health, safety and comfort, and recommends corrective action when indicated. The contractor can present the report to the homeowner as an independent, third party assessment, as well as use it to determine the appropriate filtration, ERV/HRV, PCO, dehumidification or retrofit solution.

Operation is user-friendly. The contractor places the HomeAdvice monitor in the home, where it measures dust particles, chemical pollutants, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, temperature and relative humidity. The monitor automatically sends that data to HomeAdvice servers for analysis by HomeAdvice software. Contractors can log on to the HomeAdvice servers from any internet-connected computer and generate a report showing the status of each measured variable in a homeowner-friendly red/yellow/green format paired with recommended corrective actions.

Fieldpiece Instruments
Fieldpiece Instruments introduces the AAT3 hot-wire anemometer and psychrometer in one accessory head. The AAT3 gets into ducts easily for measurement of air velocity, temperatures, and %RH. It also calculates wet bulb and dew point. When connected to the HG3, the AAT3 provides data for automatic calculations of target superheat, target evaporator exit temperature, and total cfm tests.

Utilizing the 38-in. telescoping wand, technicians can take measurements at hard-to-reach registers or in the duct for the most accurate measurements.

The AAT3 can be connected directly to any Fieldpiece stick meter, data logger, electronic handle or HVAC guide system analyzer, or it can be connected wirelessly to any Fieldpiece wirelessenabled meter via the Fieldpiece ET2W wireless transmitter. For use with other DMMs, use the Fieldpiece ADLS2 test leads or AHDL1 handle adapter. The AAT3 is available immediately for $199 suggested trade price and can be purchased from a Fieldpiece distributor. The AAT3 includes the tool, battery, silicone test leads and telescoping probe.

Rheem
Rheem introduces an improved RXIH-AS series whole-house steam humidifier, which is designed to maintain an adequate moisture level to the air in a home. Offered in six, nine and 12 gallon capacities, the Rheem RXIH-AS series steam humidifier works by warming water in a tank, which is then turned into steam and allowed to flow throughout a home.

The Rheem whole-house steam humidifier features a logical LED interface with six lights that show status and indicate when service needs to be performed. By monitoring the humidifying processes, the steam humidifier uses the LED lights to clearly display the status of operation and any error codes. The LED interface also indicates when cleaning is required and detects needed service updates. Should a service issue arise, this feature arms the HVAC professional with dependable information for fast, accurate service.
