With its powerful motor and certified "true" HEPA filtration, the Amana brand AHEPA can enhance the indoor air quality of an entire home, company sources state.
With an activated carbon pre-filter and optional carbon VOC after-filter, the AHEPA removes lint, unpleasant odors, dust (atmospheric, household and coal), dust mites, insecticides, pollen, mold spores, fungi, bacteria, cooking smoke and grease, pet dander, and tobacco smoke particles — all without creating static pressure in a home's air distribution system.
American Standard has introduced the AccuClean™ whole-home air filtration system. Some product highlights include:
- Removes up to 99.98% of allergens from the filtered air
- Catches particles down to .1 micron
- Eight times more effective than the best HEPA room appliance
- 100 times more effective than a standard one-in. throwaway filter or ionic-type room appliance
- Reusable filter can be cleaned by vacuuming.
Aprilaire has introduced a steam humidifier specifically designed for residential environments where evaporative technology is not practical to employ.
The Aprilaire steam humidifier will produce the steam necessary on demand and then use the HVAC system’s blower to deliver the steam throughout the home.
Danfoss recently introduced the Performer® VSD, a variable-speed compressor designed for the residential market that integrates power electronics, scroll technology and advanced software.
The Performer VSD pairs the first high-capacity scroll compressor for R-410A refrigerant with a variable-frequency drive to deliver exactly the capacity required for cooling every minute of the day, setting a new performance standard.
The Energy Conservatory
The Energy Conservatory has announced an improved version of the Minneapolis Duct Blaster®. Used by HVAC professionals, this product is a calibrated airflow measurement system used to test and document the air tightness of forced air duct systems in houses and light commercial buildings.
The Minneapolis Duct Blaster® kit comes standard with the Duct Blaster fan, the DG-700 Digital Pressure and Flow Gauge, three flow rings, 12-ft. of flex duct, static pressure probe, sample roll of DuctMask™ temporary register seal, manual, Duct Blaster training video and carrying case.
Fieldpiece Instruments has introduced the wireless HVAC guide® system analyzer, model HG3 and wireless transmitter, model ET2W. This new system turns any of the Fieldpiece accessory heads into wireless test meters. Technicians now simply attach accessory heads to the test points and collect and analyze all the test data on the HG3. As the tech makes adjustments to the system, the HG3 will continue to collect the data in real time for easy analysis. Up to 12 parameters can be measured wirelessly at one time and sent to the HG3 for live viewing and analysis.
The Goodman DMH900 air filtration unit removes, reduces and inhibits allergens, atmospheric dust, odors, biological pollutants and chemical contaminants throughout the entire house —all in a single-unit with reduced installation time, no external ducting required.
The true HEPA-certified whole-house DMH900 uses three-stage IAQ technology: A MERV 11 filter removes 99.97% of all air contaminants; UVC germicidal lights sterilize mold, fungus and bacterial growth; while a CinQuartz® Photo-Catalytic Oxidation (PCO) decomposes organic materials into basic molecules such as carbon dioxide and water.
Honeywell has introduced TrueEASE, a complete family of evaporative humidifiers that reduce contractor installation time and help improve the profitability of a contractor’s business, company sources state. The advanced design and patent-pending features of the TrueEASE™ whole-house humidification system offers maximum versatility and efficiency — all significant features for installers and homeowners alike.
The patent-pending interchangeable bypass eliminates the need to disassemble and rebuild the humidifier if the bypass direction needs to be changed.
The Humiditrol® dehumidification system from Lennox reduces humidity levels, regardless of room temperature, for ideal comfort every day of the year. The system’s unique dehumidification-on-demand design removes moisture based on humidity levels, not temperature, for an easy and efficient way to create a better indoor environment. By maintaining relative humidity levels between 30% and 60%, the Humiditrol system helps reduce the spread of allergens, including mold, mildew and dust mites that can lead to absenteeism and long-term health problems such as asthma.
Munters’ DryCool™ ERV provides energy recovery and dehumidification in one small packaged unit. This product provides the dehumidification requirement of the entire building and cools or heats the air stream to the desired space temperature. The DryCool™ ERV reduces operating costs and creates a more comfortable indoor environment, sources say. Units range from 1,000 to 16,000 CFM.
Orion Fans has developed the first DIN rail mounted fan for thermal management issues in enclosures or cabinets. The SpotCool DIN rail mount fan provides an energy-efficient alternative to design-in cooling solutions with a simple installation that can be placed in any enclosure. The SpotCool fan provides directed airflow of up to 120 CFM in any area that facility air conditioning cannot reach with minimal noise and power consumption.
Offered in six, nine, and 12 gallon capacities, the Rheem RXIH-AS series steam humidifier works by warming water in a tank, which is then turned into steam and allowed to flow throughout a home. In addition to providing humidity control, the humidifier can help homeowners reduce their energy bill. Because air with more moisture feels warmer, the homeowner can set the thermostat at lowers levels without a noticeable change in comfort.
The Yellow Jacket® Accuprobe™ UV, by Ritchie Engineering, uses heated sensors or UV technology (or both at the same time) to detect HFC, HCFC and CFC refrigerants, including SNAP approved hydrocarbon blends. The AccuProbe UV features low, normal and high sensitivity levels with visual and audible signals, and a UV light at the tip, which allows technicians to see dye in a system. The audible alert, which can also be muted, increases in frequency and duration as concentration increases.
The Ruskin MiniVentilator comes in two sizes – nominal 450 and 750 CFM. It includes a low-profile, compact design with 110 volt electrical connection, and can be installed with horizontal or vertical duct configuration. The cabinet is fully insulated and made of durable, powder-painted steel. This product is perfect for use in hospitals, assisted living facilities, classrooms, and small office spaces. The MiniVentilator uses an Airxchange AHRI-certified enthalpy wheel to transfer latent as well as sensible energy from the exhaust air to the incoming outside air.
Trane has introduced the FreshEffects energy recovery ventilator. The unit provides:
- Cleaner, healthier indoor air, as it exchanges stale indoor air for an equal amount of fresher outdoor air.
- Increased comfort as it retains heat and moisture from exchanged air in winter, but pre-conditions and dehumidifies incoming air in summer.
