5,944,624 hours — and counting — without a lost time accident

For the 8th time in the last 12 years, Tweet/Garot Mechanical, Green Bay, WI, has received one of the most prestigious awards available to Wisconsin employers and employees: the 2010 Wisconsin Corporate Safety Grand Award from the Wisconsin Safety Council (WSC) and the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD).

This award program is designed to honor Wisconsin businesses for exemplary safety records and excellence in safety and health management.

The award selection process involved two phases. In Phase I, data relating to incidence rates for the past three years was reviewed for over 150 applicants and 105 companies were selected as finalists.

In Phase II, 87 of the 105 leading Wisconsin companies provided details on their organization’s safety and health leadership, training and implementation programs, and employee participation. These applications were judged by an independent panel of 39 safety, health and human resource professionals and at the completion of Phase II, only 15 companies received an award.

Tweet/Garot Mechanical was one of the 15, receiving the 2010 WSC GRAND Award for the category of Construction (500,000–1,000,000 manhours worked). Mr. Gabe Gutenberger, Tweet/Garot Safety Director, and Mr. Tim Howald, President, will receive the award for Tweet/Garot at the Awards Dinner on May 17, 2011, at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells, WI.

Tweet/Garot also won the Wisconsin Corporate Safety Grand Award in 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2007, and 2009. Tweet/Garot employees have currently worked 5,944,624 hours without a lost-time incident, spanning a period of 8¾ years, beginning in June of 2002.
