In Lee Colan’s book, Sticking To It, he says that Focus x Competence x Passion = Adherence or Execution.

    1. Focus is making sure all team members are clear on the company’s purpose. Team members should have the freedom to say “no” when an initiative does not fit into the company’s strategy.

    2. Competence is accomplished by establishing smart goals for yourself as a leader and all of your teammates. The manager tracks the key performance indicators to forecast future success.

    3. Passion is accomplished by rewarding team members for great performance, demonstrating respect for each team member, and using team values to make all decisions.

Combining focus, competence, and passion allows your company to execute the plans you have developed for success. It is important to find what you do well and stick with it.

Balance your view between what’s good for the business, your employees, and customers. Finally, you must be passionate about the values that your employees can follow every day.
