    Control Retrofits, Refrigerants on Docket During Chiller Systems Group Meeting

    The Chiller Systems Group held its annual meeting March 20th thru March 23rd at the Hyatt Regency on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, TX.  The meeting was hosted by TD Industries and was attended by over 150 members, vendor partners and guests representing independent chiller service contractors from all over the world, including the United Arab Emirates.

    held its annual meeting March 20th thru March 23rd at the Hyatt Regency on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, TX.  The meeting was hosted by TDIndustries and was attended by over 150 members, vendor partners and guests representing independent chiller service contractors from all over the world and traveled as far as Dubai, United Arab Emirates. 

    The meeting included highly technical roundtable discussions on Micro Control Systems (MCS) control retrofits, new refrigerant strategies, Turbocor technology, evaporative cooling opportunities, field software solutions, and Carrier 19XL/XR teardown best practices.

    Rob Bottimore from American Chiller in California, received the “Pat Rucker” award for his years of support and many contributions of time and talent to the Chiller Systems Group.

    There were product offerings and presentations from Platinum sponsors Midwest Parts and UtiliVisor and from sponsors Daikin McQuay, MCS, Catalysis, Turbochyll, and Financial Risk Solutions. CSG's education, technical, marketing, website and publicity committees also supplied annual updates to the membership.

    Breakout session topics included full coverage chiller maintenance, chiller annual strategies, advanced electrical motor testing and energy related retrofits. For entertainment, the Group enjoyed dinner at the Buckhorn Saloon and Museum.  The Group’s 2014 annual meeting will be held in Jacksonville, FL  and hosted by ThermaServe.

    The Chiller Systems Group is a network of independent contractors throughout the U.S. and Canada dedicated to knowledge sharing and training to provide building owners the highest level of chiller service. The Group works with chiller manufacturers to provide members technical training and information in a timely manner.  Meetings are held annually to exchange technical data, best practices, and stay current on manufacturer and supplier capabilities. 

    In addition to the annual meetings and training, members share technical information daily through an e-mail user group.The Group is comprised of 47 independent contractors who specialize in chiller systems service, with its members performing service annually on over 10,000 chillers.
