    New Appointments Strengthen Tecumseh Global R&D Team

    Tecumseh Products Company has appointed Claudia Andrea da Silva as Global Motor Technology Manager and Scarlet Bryce Hauff as Global Material Technology Manager as part of an on-going strategy to strengthen its global research and development capabilities.

    Tecumseh Products Company has appointed Claudia Andrea da Silva as Global Motor Technology Manager and Scarlet Bryce Hauff as Global Material Technology Manager as part of an on-going strategy to strengthen its global research and development capabilities.

    In her new role, da Silva will lead Tecumseh’s global efforts in motor technology with a specific focus on efficiency improvements. Hauff will lead Tecumseh’s global efforts in material technology, specializing in lubricants, refrigerants and polymer technologies such as plastic and rubber. Both da Silva and Hauff will be part of Tecumseh’s global technology team. They will be based at the soon-to-open Tecumseh Technology Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

    Da Silva joined Tecumseh’s South America operation in June, 2008 as administrator of Electrical Motor Group – New Technologies, after more than 20 years at Embraco S.A. and WEB S.A. She holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering and two post-doctorate degrees in product development. Hauff comes to Tecumseh after 25 years at Embraco S.A. where she was responsible for the chemical laboratory. She holds bachelor degrees in Chemical Engineering and Business Management, along with an MBA.

    Tecumseh’s new engineering and R&D facility will join certified Tecumseh labs in France, Brazil and India to form the backbone of a global engineering strategy with increased focus on research, development and applications. Much of the current lab in Tecumseh, Michigan will be relocated to the Ann Arbor facility where the company’s testing and evaluation capabilities have been significantly upgraded. The new Technology Center is slated to be in operation this spring.
