Carrier Launches EEZ™ Duct-Free High Wall Split System
The EEZ™ duct-free high wall split system by Carrier offers an aesthetic, solution for unique heating and cooling environments such as sun-rooms, home theaters and historic renovations. The slim, compact cabinet design mounts on to walled surfaces, blending discreetly on to most interior designs.
According to company sources, the EEZ Duct-Free High Wall Series delivers powerful heating and cooling technology that utilizes Puron® refrigerant. The system allows users to customize their comfort via motorized louvers that can control and direct the flow of air into a specific area, as well as an easy-to-use remote control. An outdoor unit features a small footprint that can easily be installed in small areas such as a balcony or patio.
York® LX Series Features MicroChannel Technology
The new York® LX Series of air conditioners and heat pumps from Johnson Controls provides heating, ventilation and air-conditioning dealers with a sustainable new product offering.
The York LX Series units feature a MicroChannel coil with enhanced heat transfer characteristics, enabling them to achieve the desired performance levels with less coil surface area than competitive condensers and up to 50% less refrigerant. The units are available with R-410A refrigerant as well as R-22.
York's 14.5 SEER LX Series air conditioners use a compressor blanket and swept-wing fan blade for quieter operation. Up to 16.50 SEER and 14.0 EER can be achieved when the air conditioner is matched with a variable-speed air handler or gas furnace.
Cordpro is a device that makes electrical cords manageable. Just feed the cord into the Cordpro, insert the plug end of the cord into the wall, place the Cordpro wherever desired, grab the opposite end, and unwind as desired. With the Cordpro, you can unwind just the right amount of cord for each task. The remainder of the cord is neatly contained inside the Cordpro, untangled and ready for immediate use. Cordpro works with any cord or cable, and can be used for countless applications, from power tools to hoses to large electrical machinery.
AspenAir Introduces Slimline Furnace Mount EAC
AspenAir announces the arrival of its newly-designed furnace mount EAC systems. These systems are designed for installation in either AspenAir's thin proprietary housing, or when used with AspenAir's SlimLine RetroKit, will retrofit most EAC and media housings.
The SlimLine design of the furnace mount systems are ideal for installations that call for a furnace mount application, but where space is restricted. At a mere 3.75-in. nominal width, AspenAir's furnace mount system will retrofit most installed EAC or furnace mount housings. In new install situations, especially those where space is limited, when with used AspenAir's SlimLine housing.
All AspenAir's systems have been laboratory proven to be 99% efficient at capturing harmful airborne particles down to 0.1 microns. The SlimLine model comes in a nominal width of 3.75-in. and when installed in its proprietary SlimLine housing, is only 4.75-in. wide.
Luxaire Introduces UVC Germicidal Light
The new Acclimate™ UVC (ultraviolet “C” frequency) germicidal light from Luxaire radiates the microbial organisms that accumulate and grow on wet surfaces of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems.
The Acclimate UVC germicidal light is installed inside an HVAC system and irradiates the areas inhabited by the offending organisms, making it impossible for them to survive.
To eliminate contaminants in HVAC systems, a UVC light must be able to provide maximum dosage of UVC energy at 45 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit in a rapidly moving airstream. Although many commercial lamps are designed for optimal performance at room temperature, sources say the Luxaire Acclimate lamp uses a blend of inert gases in the bulb and a specialized power supply that maintains the optimal plasma temperature inside the bulb, even in a low temperature, moving airstream.
New Coleman® LX Series Offers Smaller Units
The Coleman® LX Series of air conditioners combines MicroChannel technology with performance features in a smaller package, delivering important environmentally friendly benefits to homeowners, building contractors and heating, ventilation and air-conditioning dealers. 13 SEER models have one of the smallest footprints in the industry (23.5 × 23.5 in.).
The LX Series offers dealers, building contractors and homeowners a range of cooling capacities in compact footprints suitable for town homes, condominiums and zero lot line projects.
LX Series air conditioners offer cooling capacities from 1.5 to 5 tons and are available in 13 and 14.5 seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER) models. The 14.5 SEER model meets or exceeds the 2009 ENERGY STAR® requirements of 14.5 SEER/12.0 EER while using single-stage compressors and loose coil combinations and can achieve efficiencies of up to 16.50 SEER and 14.0 EER when the air conditioner is matched with a variable-speed air handler or gas furnace.
COMFORTECH PRODUCT SHOWCASE AWARD
At HVAC Comfortech 2008, 15 products were recognized as Product Showcase Award winners. Judges took into consideration the ease with which HVAC contractors can apply the technology, and the technical value of the product or service to the HVAC industry. We'll feature these products each month in upcoming issues of ContractingBusiness.com. This month, we're featuring Service Automation Inc.'s SAWIN Mobile, the winner in the Field Communication category. For additional information on any of the products listed here, circle the appropriate number(s) on the reader service card at the back of this issue or visit www.contractingbusiness.com/freeinfo.html.
SAWIN Mobile Provides Paperless Solution
SAWIN Mobile is an integrated software program that helps business owners maintain almost every part of their business such as service, inventory, accounting, and payroll. The software can be deployed with a laptop, tablet PC, PDA, or a hybrid of these devices, giving the contractor the flexibility to outfit employees with the most productive device based on their specific field requirements.
SAWIN Mobile gives the consumer the ability to see the recommended repairs with subsequent pricing on screen for review and authorization by signature capture. Once authorized, the technician can complete the work order, swipe a credit card from the customer for instant authorization, and either email the invoice directly from the device or print a copy on the spot.
SAWIN is paperless and seamless and allows the technician to track time and materials cost in relation to the flat rate price. Technicians can also review and update the equipment logs on the device, review service history, PM contracts, and make recommendations for the salesmen. According to company sources, no paperwork is brought back to the office because the completed invoice is transmitted back in real-time awaiting final approval.
