Crescent Cubers Feature Stainless Steel Evaporators
Hoshizaki America, Inc. has introduced the KM Series of crescent cuber ice machines with built-in storage. The KM-101BAH crescent cuber ice machine (shown at left) produces up to 115 lbs. of ice within 24 hours. A built-in storage bin holds 56 lbs. The KM-151BAH unit produces up to 146 lbs. of ice within 24 hours with a built-in storage bin holding 93 lbs. These self contained designs are available as air-cooled models and can easily fit under a counter. The KM units comply with all government guidelines, specifically the new California Energy Commission (CEC) requirement and are Energy Star Qualified.

The self contained units feature a stainless steel evaporator with no plating or chipping allowing for individual crescent cubes to be formed on both sides of the evaporator. The design allows for the freezing of the purest water and formation of crystal clear cubes. Front in and out airflow, slide-in door and removable air filter allow for built-in installation. The power switch is accessible without panel removal. The EverCheck® Alert System sounds an audible warning when the machine is in need of service. The CycleSaver® Design allows the cuber to produce the same quantity of ice in about half the cycles of the other ice machines. — Hoshizaki America, Inc. Circle 185

    New Refrigerators are Stylish, Well-Insulated
The new Fusion series of refrigerators from Master-Bilt includes three freezer models (MBF) and three refrigerator models (MBR) in 1, 2 and 3-door versions. With capacities of 23-, 49-, and 72-cu.ft., each model comes standard with three adjustable, heavy-duty, epoxy-coated wire shelves per door. A curved corner design creates a stylish appearance and reduces chances of injury in slip-and-fall accidents. All cabinets feature stainless steel interiors and exterior on front, sides, and doors, with a galvanized steel exterior top, bottom and back. Cabinet walls are 2-in. thick and foamed-in-place with green friendly, efficient polyurethane insulation. The series comes standard with an electronic control that digitally displays inside temperature, and allows users to monitor and adjust temperature set point within normal temperature range. A visual and audible alarm warns if doors are left open. — Master-Bilt Circle 186

United Dairy Farmers Selects Emerson E2 for Facility Management
Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson, announced that United Dairy Farmers (UDF) has selected the E2 Facility Management System, to reduce energy costs.

UDF is using the E2 to more efficiently monitor and manage energy consumption within their facilities. Already installed in a significant number of locations, the retailer plans to upgrade all new and existing stores with the system. The E2 manages all lighting, refrigeration, and HVAC systems in a convenience store, including the anti-condensate heaters on glass door display cases.

RSES, NEBB to Co-Publish Commissioning Guideline
Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES) and the National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB) have agreed to to co-publish a Refrigeration System Commissioning Guideline, to be released later this year. It will be dedicated to helping commissioning providers accomplish correct and complete commissioning processes for a refrigeration system.

RSES executive vice president, Mark Lowry, says the guideline will set standards for the commissioning process for HVAC refrigeration systems, including package units, split DX systems, low-temperature, and medium-temperature refrigeration systems.

"This joint venture will result in a more defined process for the commissioning provider," Lowry says.
