Mitsubishi Electric US, Inc. Heating and Cooling Division hosted its national Diamond Contractor Elite Conference (DCEC) October 9-11 at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Dallas.

Approximately 500 attendees gathered for three days of presentations and workshops on business management, selling strategies, marketing programs and product updates.

A special highlight was the Awards Banquet Keynote Speaker, Retired U.S. Army Staff Sargeant Travis Mills. Author of the New York Times bestselling memoir, “Tough as They Come,” Travis lost portions of both arms and legs from an IED while on active duty in Afghanistan. He is a motivational speaker, actor, author and an advocate for veterans and amputees. In 2013 he founded the Travis Mills Foundation, a nonprofit organization formed to benefit and assist combat-injured veterans.

"The positive energy Travis brought to our conference – together with the top-notch roster of other guest speakers – made this inaugural conference especially meaningful. Our Elite Diamond Contractors are top in the industry and we enjoyed bringing them together and sharing business strategies for our mutual success,” says Steve Scarbrough, director, Contractor Development & Training, Mitsubishi Electric US, Inc. Cooling & Heating Division.

Mills joined a host of other leading business motivational speakers who shared their insights at the DCEC including Weldon Long, best-selling author and founder of The Weldon Long Organization; Mike Cappuccio, president, N.E.T.R., Inc. Air Conditioning & Refrigeration; Elaina Burdick, president, EB&L Marketing; Lawrence Janesky, founder and CEO, Basement Systems, Inc. and Contractor Nation School of Entrepreneurship; and Brigham Dickinson, president and founder, Power Selling Pros.

Several criteria are included in each contractor classification, such as the tracking of warranty registrations for each system a contractor installs, as well as five performance indicators: marketing, training, service, sales and customer service.

Diamond Contractors are independent dealers who have invested time in training at an approved instructional center and have a high level of experience working with Mitsubishi Electric systems.
