• Chiller Systems Group Explores Technical Topics

    The Chiller Systems Group meeting included technical roundtable discussions on Micro Control Systems (MCS) control retrofits, Rockwell drives, and more.

    The Chiller Systems Group held its spring meeting April 22nd thru 24th at the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park Hotel. The meeting was jointly hosted by AMS Mechanical Systems and ATOMATIC Mechanical Services, and was attended by over 100 members and guests representing independent chiller service contractors from all over the U.S. and Canada.

    The meeting included highly technical roundtable discussions on Micro Control Systems (MCS) control retrofits, Rockwell drives, chiller overhaul best practices, selling and expanding preventative maintenance customers and service handheld technology.

    There were technical and product presentations by sponsors Micro Control Systems (MCS), McQuay International, Johnson Controls (York), MagLev-Multistack, Financial Risk Solutions, Bitzer Compressors and Air Advice. The Group also conducted its third meeting of the “Controls Group” to facilitate technology sharing and best practices for building automation systems within the Chiller Systems Group. The Controls Group breakout meeting included presentations from Siemens and Cochran Supply.

    The Group’s 2011 fall meeting will be September 30th thru October 2nd in Seattle, Washington hosted by MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions.

    The Chiller Systems Group is a network of independent contractors throughout the United States dedicated to knowledge sharing and training to provide building owners the highest level of chiller service. The Group works with chiller manufacturers to provide members technical training and information in a timely manner. Meetings are held semi-annually to exchange technical data, best practices, and stay current on manufacturer and supplier capabilities. In addition to the semi-annual meetings and training, members share technical information daily through an e-mail user group.

    The Group is comprised of 48 independent contractors who specialize in chiller systems service, with its members performing service annually on over 10,000 chillers.
