The number of HVACR training programs to be granted accreditation by the Partnership for Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Accreditation (PAHRA) program grew by four in June.

    The newly-accredited programs are:

    • Carver Career and Technical Education Center, Charleston, WV
    • Miami Valley Career Technology Center in Clayton, OH
    • Moore Norman Technology Center, Norman, OK
    • Somerset County Technology Center in Somerset, PA.

PAHRA — the only HVACR accreditation program to be validated by representatives from each major HVACR trade association — was initiated to establish national educational standards for accrediting HVACR programs. PAHRA accreditation certifies that an HVACR program exceeds HVACR industry standards in instruction, curriculum, student, faculty, and facility. PAHRA evaluates residential air conditioning and heating, light commercial air conditioning and heating, and commercial refrigeration.

“This was not an easy feat,” said Pat Murphy, President of PAHRA and Vice President of Certifications for North American Technician Excellence (NATE).

“PAHRA has raised the bar for HVACR programs to achieve excellence, and these schools have proven they are up to the challenge.”
Since its launch in January 2001, a total of 26 schools have received PAHRA accreditation.
