The heat pump is Energy Star-approved.
With all of its cooling and heating functions saved in a single streamlined cabinet, the Platinum ZM hybrid comfort system (also known as Heritage Hybrid™ comfort system 4DCZ6) from American Standard Heating & Air Conditioning features up to four stages of heating and two fuel choices. It uses an exclusive Spine Fin Coil™ and two-stage Duration™ compressor, allowing it to run at 70% capacity most of the time and the ability to step up to the second stage on extreme days.
Armstrong Air heat pumps and air conditioners feature ratings up to 18 SEER as well as R410A refrigerant. According to company sources, Armstrong Air 418LT air conditioners and heat pumps exceed Energy Star® guidelines. The 418LT systems' revolutionary two-step design helps create a quieter, more comfortable environment by allowing the compressor to operate at low speed most of the time. The result is more consistent comfort, reduced operating sound and better humidity control, sources say.
Rated at 14 SEER with a fixed-speed blower, the Broan FT4BE heat pump achieves up to 15 SEER and 8.5 HSPF when paired with a variable-speed indoor unit. According to company sources, homeowners will like its swept-wing fan blade and composite base pan for noise reduction, and contractors will appreciate the easy access to compressor and controls.
The Tranquility split geothermal system from ClimateMaster, consists of the Tranquility indoor split unit (TTS) and the Tranquility air handler (TAH). When paired together this series has among the highest efficiency rating of any geothermal system on the market today. The Tranquility split system easily connects to new or existing fossil fuel and electric furnaces, uses 410A, and it also exceeds ASHRAE 90.1 and Energy Star 3.0 efficiencies. It also meets requirements for the 30% federal tax credit on installation costs.
Ducane™ is rolling out a new lineup of enhanced heat pumps that include 16 and 18 SEER units.
The new models offer full-line, 100% scroll compressors, in-house fabricated coils, and PSC fan motors, all of which combine to increase the reliability, durability and efficiency of the units.
Friedrich Air Conditioning introduces its PTAC unit. Its two-motor design allows the indoor motor to run at slower speeds, which reduces sound levels indoors. The tangential blower wheel has nearly 5x the surface area of a typical PTAC fan for better air distribution at lower sound levels and there are three fan speeds rather than the standard two for more comfort choices in both cooling and heating modes, sources say.
Achieving up to 22 SEER, 10 HSPF and 14.6 EER, the Frigidaire iQ Drive® heat pump uses inverter-driven rotary technology to modulate anywhere from 40 to 118% of capacity, instantly adjusting to exactly offset the demands on the home. It runs almost constantly at a low level and operates as low as 59 decibels.
The Frigidaire iQ Drive heat pump is available in 2, 3 and 4 tons.
The Goodman® SSZ14 heat pump has been enhanced with numerous next generation features that increase performance and long-term reliability.
Delivering up to 15 SEER, 9.0 HSPF efficiencies – with a compressor backed by a limited lifetime warranty – the Goodman SSZ14 heat pump is packed with features, company sources state.
Johnson Controls extends the line of York® Affinity™ residential products with the new Affinity 16 SEER split system single-stage heat pump.
This latest update to the York Affinity Series is compatible with the new York Affinity communicating control to ensure maximum system efficiency and homeowner comfort. The heat pump can also be used with a standard thermostat, increasing the unit's installation and replacement flexibility.
