Two Companies Achieve Safety Milestones

S.I. Goldman Company, Inc./Comfort Systems USA, Longwood, FL recently reached a significant safety milestone: 1 million man-hours with no lost time injuries. The commercial mechanical contracting company’s last lost-time injury was in April, 2000.

“Safety is embedded in our company culture. We don’t just have a safety program, we have a total company mentality of working safely each day, on each project, by every member of our team,” says John C. Martin, company president and CEO.

S.I. Goldman has approximately 300 employees in four offices in Florida.

Meanwhile, in Bristol, TN, HVAC, Inc. has surpassed 500,000 man hours worked without a lost work day injury.

Edd Hill, president of the full-range mechanical contracting firm, credits an aggressive training program for the company’s outstanding safety record. HVAC, Inc. committed to a formal safety program in 1999.

HVAC Inc., which has nearly 100 employees, had its last lost-work day in November, 2000.
