GSM Technician on Fast Track with PHCC Apprenticeship

    June 15, 2015
Commercial installation technician Eric Pressley advanced through the first year of t he PHCC apprenticeship program in six months.

In order to assist co-workers to advance in their chosen field, GSM Services, based in Gastonia, NC, offers a number of educational paths for co-workers to pursue. One of these paths is a four-year apprenticeship program through the Plumbing Heating & Cooling Contractors Association (PHCC).

GSM training coordinator/safety director Sam Vagnozzie presents a certificate of completion to Apprentice Eric Pressley. Eric completed the first year of his PHCC apprenticeship in six months.

Eric Pressley has been employed with GSM since June of 2013 and has been working in the Commercial HVAC Installation Division. Through his desire to advance into other areas within the HVAC field, Eric decided to enter the PHCC Apprenticeship Program. He began the program in November of 2014, with an expected first year completion date of November 2015. Eric studied hard and advanced through the program in six months, well ahead of schedule. He is now working on his second year of the program.

“The PHCC apprenticeship program provides a good base of HVAC theory and knowledge to compliment the hands on experience that I gain in the field from day to day," Pressley said.

GSM Services — in business since 1927, when it began as Gastonia Sheet Metal — offers scholarships and apprenticeships for qualified individuals who are interested in working while learning about the HVAC industry.
