Mitch Slavensky, LonMark Americas Co-founder, Owner of ACS Controls, Dies at 63

    Dec. 1, 2017
Slavensky was a supporter and integrator of LonWorks solutions based in Sacramento, CA.

Mitch Slavensky, 63, owner of ACS Controls, and a co-founder of LonMark Americas, died on October 29 in Sacramento, Calif. The cause of death was mesothelioma lung cancer.

Mr. Slavensky was a longtime supporter and integrator of LonWorks solutions based in Sacramento, CA. He was a member of the Open Systems Alliance and co-author of the first LonWorks open building automation specification published by LonMark in the late 1990s.

Slavensky's company, ACS Controls, has been a long time member of LonMark International.

LonMark described Slavensky as "a gentle soul, passionate, and committed." He had fought mesothelioma for several years, and was an outspoken advocate for people with this disease.

Slavensky won a settlement in September 2015, which affirmed his claim that his cancer was a result of exposure to asbestos-lined pipes while working for a plumber in the 1970s.

"We remember him fondly and offer our deepest condolences to his wife Char and his son Anson. He will be missed but remembered with great admiration," wrote LonMark International.

A small memorial service was held on November 15th to honor his life and memory.
