GreenChill Awards Supermarket Teams at FMI Show

Nine award categories included most improved reduced emissions rate and distinguished partner.

The GreenChill Partnership presented awards to 13 supermarket chains and one contracting organization during the Food Marketing Institute's Energy & Store Development Conference, Sept. 23-27 in Atlanta, Ga.

Best Emissions Rate, in recognition of those GreenChill partners with the lowest corporate-wide refrigerant emissions rate of all the partners:

  • Harris Teeter retail chain
  • City Market Onion River Co-op, in the small/independent category.

Most Improved Emissions Rate, recognizing the partner with the most improved emissions rate for commercial systems from the previous year; and, the partner with the most improved emissions rate since their baseline year:

  • Harris Teeter, for year-to-year improvement
  • Hanover Co-p Food Stores, for most improved rate since their baseline year

Distinguished Partner, Awarded to the individual or organization demonstrating extraordinary leadership and initiative in achieving GreenChill's mission in the past year: 

  • Whole Foods Market

Superior Goal Achievement, recognizing each partner that achieves its annual GreenChill refrigerant emissions reduction goal: 

  • Coburn's, Inc.
  • Food Lion
  • Harris Teeter
  • Hy-Vee

Exceptional Goal Achievement, Presented to each partner that achieves its "stretch" refrigerant emissions reduction goal. GreenChill says this goal is more difficult to achieve than the goal recognized by Superior Goal Achievement:

  • Hy-Vee

Best of the Best, presented to the best GreenChill certified store of all stores certified during the past year:

  • Lidl US, Kinston, NC

Store Certification Excellence, Supermarket, for the supermarket companies that achieves the most GreenChill store certifications in the past year:

  • Publix Super Markets
  • Sprouts Farmers Market

Store Certification Excellence (non-supermarket), presented in recognition of commercial systems manufacturer with the most systems installed in GreenChill certified stores in the past year

  • Hillphoenix

Store Re-certification Excellence, Supermarket, given to each supermarket that renewed its GreenChill Store Certification for five consecutive years:

  • Hannford, Turner, ME
  • Sprouts Farmers Market, Fresno, Calif.
  • Stater Bros. Markets, Redlands, Calif.
