• Do What You Can to Support the Joseph Groh Foundation

    March 2, 2019
We take our mobility and independence for granted. But there are those for whom that's now a memory. Please try to help those tradespeople who can no longer work due to a serious injury.

The Joseph Groh Foundation is one of the HVACR industry’s most enduring charities. The Foundation’s purpose is to provide financial support to those connected with the construction trades industry (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, roofing, etc.) who are living with life altering injuries.

Joe Groh started the 501(c)(3) Foundation in 2008, after suffering a crippling bicycle accident.

Joe was a lifelong HVAC professional, for whom mobility was everything. He began his career working for contracting firms, installing residential and light commercial equipment. In 1977 he went to work for Lennox Industries, Inc. as an inside sales representative in Chicago.

In 1998, Joe left Lennox to become director of marketing for a Chicago-based HVAC distributor. In 2000, Joe moved with his family back to Dallas to become director of product development for Titus, a leading manufacturer of commercial grilles, registers, diffusers, and other air movement/ventilation products. His final HVAC-related job was as vice president of sales and marketing for PCI Industries in Fort Worth.

Establishing and managing this 501(c)(3) tax-deductible foundation is Joe’s way of giving back to the construction trades industry.

The Joseph Groh Foundation serves as a clearinghouse of information for those with spinal cord injuries. Its messages include encouraging companies to offer and employees to purchase short and long-term disability insurance, and it provides financial assistance to those who have a connection to the construction trades industry, and are living with a life-altering injury or illness.

The Joseph Groh foundation is dedicated to:

    1. Providing extensive information for individuals with disabilities and their caregivers through the foundation website links page.

    2. Providing financial assistance to those connected to the contracting industry who are living with life altering disabilities.

    3. Advocating for pathways to affordable short/long-term disability insurance for small businesses in the contracting industry.

One of the Foundation’s major fund-raising efforts is its annual golf tournaments. Recently, Joe provided us with golf tournament dates for 2019:

Dallas: Monday, April 29 at Coyote Ridge golf club in Carrollton, Tex.

Minneapolis: Monday, September 9 at The Links at North Fork in Ramsey, Minn.

Chicago: Monday, September 23 at The Highlands of Elgin in Elgin, Ill.

“These golf tournaments serve as the primary vehicle for raising funds for our grant recipients,” Groh said. “To date, we have provided $535,000 in grants to individuals in 26 states. At present, we are in the process of funding three home and bath remodels in South Carolina, Illinois and Texas.  We are also in the final stages of planning for two additional grants in South Dakota, and Illinois."

Joe has wisely scheduled the tournaments in the shoulder seasons. So please, golfers, do your best to sign up yourselves and your golfing employees to support this worthy cause.

And please, see what you can do to support the Foundation, at  josephgrohfoundation.org. That's also where you can find sign-up forms for the golf tournaments.

    THANK YOU!
