Charlie Greer has been around the world and spoken to a lot of different contractors. Not only does he own HVAC Profit Boosters, he writes a monthly column for
ContractingBusiness.com, and has been twice named the Tom McCart HVAC Consultant of the Year. He’s conducted training as far as Australia and has sold copies of his audio books and DVDs in Europe and the Middle East.
Greer’s specialty is sales training; he said he’s helped service technicians around the world realize they’re in a sales position.
“As a result of my training, HVAC technicians and salespeople help countless individuals to breathe cleaner, healthier air, and save energy, which saves them money, cuts down on both indoor and outdoor pollution, and decreases America’s dependence on foreign oil,” Greer said. “When techs and salespeople help their customers to live better lives, they make more money and so does the contractor, which is good for the industry.”
Greer would also like to see more installers and service technicians, to help shore up the talent gap. He believes there needs to be better hours and better pay, something that calls for more money and sales training.
“Sales” shouldn’t be a bad word, he said; it should be the backbone of a successful business.
