CALMAC Joins California Energy Storage Alliance

CALMAC announced it has joined the California Energy Storage Alliance (CESA) to promote a more efficient electric grid using renewable energy in tandem with energy storage. CALMAC brings more than 30 years of ice storage technology expertise to the coalition, and will help shape the way California thinks about its electric infrastructure by using energy storage to optimize electric power supply.

“CESA clearly understands the value of energy storage as our country continues to move toward adopting a more efficient, low-carbon grid,” said Mark MacCracken, CEO of CALMAC and Chair, USGBC. “Energy storage is critical as we lessen our dependence on fossil fuels and expand the use of our nation’s renewable resources. We are proud to add our voice to a growing movement advocating on behalf of energy storage technology across multiple industries.”

Founded in 2009, CESA’s association of members helps support and influence the passage of amendments, including the passage of California’s Assembly Bill 2514, that promotes the use of grid storage in the state. CALMAC joins the coalition’s diverse range of existing members, which includes mechanical, thermal and chemical storage companies and large-scale wind and solar energy component manufacturers and developers.
