Jim Vallort to Lead ESD's Health Group

Environmental Systems Design, Inc. (ESD), Chicago, IL, an international leader in the design of high performance building systems, has named Jim Vallort head of its Health, Institutional & Sciences Group. The Health, Institutional & Sciences Group at ESD is a multi-disciplined team servicing acute care hospitals, medical office buildings, laboratories, assisted living residences, wellness centers and outpatient clinics.

The Group’s recent projects include

  • the atrium addition (a new 14-story hospital), central energy plant, parking structure, underground loading dock and the Midwest orthopedics building for Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL;
  • multiple projects for the University of Illinois on the Urbana-Champaign campus;
  • the Prentice Women’s Hospital, Galter Pavilion inpatient bed expansion, and a new outpatient imaging center at the 676 St. Clair medical office building for Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL.

An ESD vice president, Mr. Vallort most recently served as head of ESD’s Building Science and Commissioning Group. He has nearly 20 years of experience in building system design, with a strong background in the areas of building energy optimization, commissioning of building systems, sustainable consulting, energy modeling and system design. He has served as project manager, commissioning agent and design engineer on projects ranging from multi-million dollar campus-wide developments, to individual site commissioning programs.

Vallort has amassed extensive experience working with the US Green Building Council’s LEED® certification program, and has acted as a LEED consultant on a variety of projects.
