Lake Mechanical's Evelyn Smith a Hall of Famer

A fine example of how HVACR professionals can serve their communities.

Evelyn H. Smith is known for her tireless support of Central Florida community organizations and for her 20 years of elected leadership for the city of Eustis, FL. In return, yesterday it was announced that Smith had been inducted into the Lake County Women’s Hall of Fame.

Smith currently serves as vice president and secretary-treasurer at Lake Mechanical Contractors Inc., one of Florida’s leading plumbing, process piping and HVAC contractors, and has been part of their leadership team for 50 years.

Smith was nominated to the Hall of Fame by several local leaders who commended her as, “a model of volunteerism for women throughout Lake County” and for her commitment to Lake County’s families and businesses. Smith has previously been distinguished as the first female president of the Eustis Chamber of Commerce and she has been elected by her fellow commissioners to serve as their Mayor on numerous occasions.

Smith has also served as a gubernatorial appointee to the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council. In 2008, she received the Lake County Community Service Award for Public Service. She has contributed greatly to organizations, including the Eustis Museum and Historic Preservation Society, Eustis Women’s Club and Girl Scouts of America.

A native of Lake County, Florida, Smith has lived and worked in Eustis since 1962. She graduated from Umatilla High School in 1956, received a secretarial degree from Jones College, and completed studies in interior design at North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina. Her husband, John B. Smith, is CEO and chairman of Lake Mechanical Contractors Inc.

Lake Mechanical Contractors, Inc. is an employee-owned mechanical contracting company specializing in HVAC, plumbing, process piping and other large commercial construction projects.
