ARI Releases Two Updated Guidelines

The General Standards Committee of the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) has approved for release updates for ARI Guideline G-2002, "Mechanical Balance of Fans and Blowers," and ARI Guideline T-2002, "Specifying the Thermal Performance of Cool Storage Equipment." These guidelines are available for free download on ARI's website, www.ari.org. ARI Guideline G-2002 provides fundamental information and guides the industry on balance and vibration technology as applied to impellers used in air moving systems. It includes terminology and methods of balancing practiced by the industry. It's intended to apply specifically to system vibration and mechanical balancing as related to fans and blowers. ARI Guideline T-2002 establishes the minimum information required for specifying cool storage equipment. It applies to thermal storage equipment for use in cooling systems, which may be charged and discharged with any of a variety of heat transfer fluids, and is either fully factory assembled, assembled on site from factory supplied components or field erected in accordance with pre-established design criteria. ARI guidelines and standards establish rating criteria and procedures for measuring and certifying product performance. In this way, products are rated on a uniform basis so that buyers and users can properly make selections for specific applications.
