Goodman Manufacturing Co., Houston, TX in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, is implementing a voluntary corrective action program (CAP) for about 875,000 package terminal air conditioner/heat pumps (PTAC) to address a reported fire hazard.
Goodman has discovered that severely restricted airflow conditions, such as that caused by a dirty filter, may cause the safety limit switches to fail.
The units were manufactured for certain Amana brands between January 1996 through March 2003 and certain Trane and American Standard brands manufactured by Goodman from January 1996 through August 2002.
The CAP may provide for a replacement limit switch for certain models. For more information, contact Goodman at 800/729-6122, or visit www.regcen.com/PTAC
