Roland “Buck” St. Cyr, founder of Hallmark Air Conditioning, Houston, TX and a past national chairman of Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) died at his home in Walden, TX, on December 10, 2008 after a five-year struggle against multiple illnesses.

St. Cyr began his HVAC career with Texfan, before forming Hallmark Air Conditioning in 1967. Hallmark eventually became Houston's largest residential air conditioning and heating company.

In 1986, Hallmark received the inaugural Contracting Business Residential Contractor of the Year Award.

Among St.Cyr's accomplishments in addition to his business success and ACCA contributions, was working with the state legislature to help pass the law establishing the Texas air conditioning licensing criteria.

St. Cyr's admirers say he combined a benchmark for work ethic and perseverance with a compassion and loyalty towards life and friends.

“Buck's presence and love for ACCA and life was strong and vibrant,” says Greg Leisgang, ACCA's 2005-2006 chairman. “People will forget what you said and what you did, but they'll never forget how you made them feel. Buck always had a warm handshake, words of encouragement, and gratitude to offer. He made people feel special,” Leisgang says.
