A record crowd of more than 600 HVAC professionals attended the 21st Annual Mechanical Service Contractors of America (MSCA) Educational Conference on October 15-18 at the Charleston Place Hotel in Charleston, SC.
Entitled "Reach for The Stars," the meeting included inspiring presentations from Allyn Kilsheimer, the lead engineer on the Pentagon rebuild following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, former Harley-Davidson marketing executive, Ken Schmidt, and business consultant and entrepreneur, Nido Qubein, as well as a variety of business seminars and roundtables, peer group networking sessions and an industry exhibitor showcase.
MSCA Board of Manager's Chairman Brad Bolino — of John J. Kirlin, Inc., Rockville, MD — opened the conference with a review of MSCA's achievements, including recognition of 28 MSCA contractors who qualified for MSCA STAR since the 2005 conference.
Bolino was honored for his many years of service to MSCA, and officially concluded his tenure with the introduction of Wayne Turchetta — of HMC Service, Louisville, KY — as the new chairman of MSCA's board of managers.
Contractor discussions covered selling service agreements, incentive plans, and extractingprofits from work orders.
Other subjects covered included business plans, recruiting and retention, labor issues, competition, service training and becoming a STAR.
The 2007 MSCA Conference will be held October 14-17 at the Broadmoor Hotel, Colorado Springs, CO.
