EMERSON ANNOUNCES NEW GROUP VICE PRESIDENT

Feb. 1, 2004
ST. LOUIS, February 9, 2004 Emerson Climate Technologies, an Emerson business (NYSE: EMR), today announced the promotion of R.J. Schul to Group Vice President

ST. LOUIS, February 9, 2004 – Emerson Climate Technologies, an Emerson business (NYSE: EMR), today announced the promotion of R.J. “Dick” Schul to Group Vice President – Emerson Climate Technologies. Emerson Climate Technologies unites a number of Emerson companies under a single brand to serve the global heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration industry. In his new role, Schul will focus on coordinating sales activities across all of the Emerson Climate Technologies divisions in order to broaden and strengthen Emerson’s relationship with major OEMs, end-users and distribution customers. He will also be responsible for branding and marketing activities related to Emerson Climate Technologies programs. “With his years of experience, strong personal relationships and clear understanding of the Emerson Climate Technologies businesses, Dick will be a great asset as we continue to expand our coordinated selling and marketing activities throughout the industry,” said Tom Bettcher, Emerson Climate Technologies business group leader. “His strategic leadership will be important for the continued growth of our global manufacturing, service and solutions businesses, as well as delivering on our promise of “one face” to the customer.” Schul joined Emerson more than 22 years ago, and has held positions of increasing responsibility at Emerson, including president of Flow Controls (formerly Alco Controls), president of Air Moving Motors, president of Specialty & Air Moving Motors, and group vice president of Commercial Industrial Motors. Schul earned a BS Mechanical Engineering from Indiana Institute of Technology in 1969 and an MBA from the University of Dayton in 1976.
