Lower Pricing on Thermal Imaging Cameras
FLIR Systems, Portland, OR, has announced new, low prices for its FLIR i5 and FLIR i7 thermal imaging cameras. The entry-level FLIR i5 will retail for $1,595. The FLIR i7 will retail for $1,995, making it the first infrared camera to meet the proposed Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) thermal imaging inspection requirements for under $2,000, sources report. Both models are available now for immediate shipment through authorized FLIR distributors.

The FLIR i5 and FLIR i7 are described by company sources as the most cost-effective thermal imaging cameras on the market. The affordable models permit home inspectors, building inspectors, energy audit professionals, plant maintenance technicians, and water damage restoration specialists to upgrade from a single-spot IR thermometer to the big picture of a FLIR infrared camera.

Honeywell Refrigerant Receives ASHRAE Designation
Genetron Performax LT refrigerant from Honeywell has received the official designation of R-407F from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

ASHRAE designations assign safety classifications for refrigerants based on toxicity and flammability data. Genetron Performax LT is rated as "A1" by ASHRAE, indicating it has low toxicity and is non-flammable.

"This is the next step in widespread adoption of Genetron Performax LT as the preferred supermarket refrigerant," according to David Diggs, global business director for the refrigerants business of Honeywell Fluorine Products.

"Honeywell continues to develop innovative solutions to meet our customers’ critical refrigeration needs. With lower global warming potential and improved energy efficiency, Genetron Performax LT is a great example of that," Diggs says.

According to Honeywell, Genetron Performax LT is designed to provide superior refrigeration performance in both new equipment and equipment that uses R-22. The refrigerant provides similar performance to R-22, but requires fewer equipment modifications than other R-22 retrofit alternatives and offers improved energy efficiency versus other HFCs.

Honeywell sources report Genetron Performax LT minimizes the KWH cost of operating supermarket refrigeration systems. In comparably designed systems at design conditions, Genetron Performax LT can be 5% to 10% more efficient than the industry standard: R-404A, sources say.
