At HVAC Comfortech 2011, 12 products were recognized as Product Showcase Award winners. Judges took into consideration the ease with which HVAC contractors can apply the technology, and the technical value of the product or service to the HVAC industry. We’ll feature these products each month in upcoming issues of Contracting Business. This month, we’re featuring ECR International’s Dunkirk Helix VLT, the winner in the Hydronic Equipment category. For additional information on any of the products listed here, circle the appropriate number(s) on the reader service card at the back of this issue or visit www.contractingbusiness.com/freeinfo.html.

Dunkirk Takes Top Prize in Hydronic Equipment Category at HVACR Week
ECR International introduces the new Dunkirk Helix VLT. The heart of the Helix VLT is Dunkirk’s exclusive Vertical Laser Tube heat exchanger, constructed of 316L/444 stainless steel fin tube. The 444 fins are laser-welded onto the 316L coil, ensuring the highest level of heat transfer and efficiency.

With 96 % AFUE, sealed combustion and a built-in outdoor temperature reset, homeowners can save up to 40% on their heating bills each year versus older lower efficiency heating systems, sources say.

The Helix VLT is backed by a full 15-year warranty and additional first year heat exchanger coverage.

Coast Introduces High Performance LED Flashlight
The Coast HP7 LED flashlight is easy to carry, and has the light output and runtime that’s needed by those that rely on bright light every day. A quick cycle switch allows users to select between a high output setting of 251 lumens or a low output of 58 lumens allowing you to choose the right level for your application. Coast’s Pure Beam focusing optic system with Fingertip Speed focus control provides superior beam consistency from spot to flood, with no dark rings typically associated with focusing flashlights. The beam focus can be locked in any position using the Beam Lock system. The bulls eye spot beam pattern gives a great focused spot with a maximum beam distance of 642-ft. while producing an outer ring of floodlight, which allows users to see a broader area to the sides. The flashlight features a impact-resistant, lightweight aluminum casing that resists rust and corrosion. Tested and rated to ANSI/FL1 standards, the HP7 also features an unbreakable LED, and rubberized O-ring for reliable water resistance and durability.

White-Rodgers Adds Wireless to Its Easy Installation Offering
White-Rodgers unveils its new BlueT wireless Easy InstallT thermostat system. According to company sources, the wireless Easy InstallT is ideal for residential applications where pulling wire would be difficult or cost prohibitive.

Wireless Easy InstallT will reduce hot and cold spots in the home using up to three wireless sensors that can be located anywhere in the home for optimum temperature sensing. Heat pumps with dual fuel applications can be controlled using a fourth wireless sensor that is located outdoors or by using the Dual Fuel Logic program within the system’s configuration. The outdoor sensor provides the additional benefit of displaying the current outdoor temperature on the Comfort Interface display.

Blue Wireless Easy InstallT is compatible with most conventional & heat pump systems that are single or multi-stage, including dual fuel applications. The thermostat system features:

    • Reliable wireless control
    • Increased comfort with premium humidity control right at the display
    • Dual fuel control on heat pump systems with a choice of built-in logic program or by outdoor wireless remote sensor.

Johnson Controls Adds 14.5 SEER Air Conditioners to the York LX and Latitude Series
Johnson Controls has expanded its York LX and Latitude series of mid-efficiency air conditioners and heat pumps with the addition of 14.5 SEER condensing units. The new 1.5-ton models feature the same compact footprint and height as 2-ton models in the series. When used with York’s variable-speed indoor products, the air conditioners can achieve efficiency levels that qualify them for the Energy Star designation for a federal tax credit.

Both models use R-410A refrigerant and a coil constructed of aluminum MicroChannel tubing and enhanced aluminum fins for increased efficiency and corrosion protection. Coils are further protected from damage by a polymer mesh applied between the coil face and a coated steel coil guard, while high-pressure relief valves and temperature sensors protect the compressors in the two units.
