BREAKING: Senate Panel Gives OK to Climate Bill

Reuters News Service reported today that democrats on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee ignored a Republican boycott and used their majority to approve legislation that would require U.S. industry to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases 20% by 2020, from 2005 levels.

Democrats have been trying to obtain forward momentum on a climate bill as the Copenhagen global warming talks are scheduled to begin on December 7. At this time, the bill lacks full support in the Senate.
