A breast cancer resource foundation established by the Gemma family, of Gem Plumbing & Heating, Lincoln, RI, recently staged a special event -- "Flames of Hope" -- in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event attracted about 100,000 spectators, and raised close to $200,000, to support the work of the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation. The Foundation was established in 2004 to honor the memory of Gloria Gemma who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2004.
The Foundation helps local breast cancer organizations in their fights against breast cancer, raises awareness about the disease, and brings comfort and help to patients and families in Rhode Island.
