EMCOR Services Mesa Energy Systems has been awarded a contract to install new, high efficiency boilers in 19 facilities throughout the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar (MCAS Miramar) in San Diego, CA.

EMCOR Services Mesa Energy Systems has been awarded a contract to install new, high efficiency boilers in 19 facilities throughout the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar (MCAS Miramar) in San Diego, CA.
EMCOR Government Services will operate and maintain new Coast Guard headquarters and support
facilities at the GSA St. Elizabeth Campus in Washington, D.C.

The entire scope of work includes demolition and replacement of the existing heating systems with the new boiler systems, including new underground piping, and upgrades to the existing direct digital controls systems.

John Kuempel Jr., P.E., vice president of EMCOR subsidiary DeBra-Kuempel, has received an ASHRAE Distinguished Service Award.

The Distinguished Service Award was presented at ASHRAE’s 2013 Annual Conference in Denver. This award is given to individuals who have served the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers faithfully and with distinction, and who have given freely of their time and talent on behalf of ASHRAE. The honor recognizes participation in chapter, regional, and society activities.

John Kuempel has been an active member of ASHRAE since 1991. 

New employees at Environmental Systems Design, Inc., Chicago, IL are:

  • Christy Picker Rothchild, in-house counsel.  Prior to joining ESD, Ms. Rothchild was a Partner with Jenner & Block, an Assistant Professor with Northwestern University School of Law, and a Senior Attorney with Michaels & May, P.C.  She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Michigan, a Master of Social Work  from Washington University, and Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School.
  • Mike Thomas, vice president/business development director. Thomas will be responsible for sales, business development, thought leadership, and client relations strategies for the firm, in particular in ESD’s commercial, institutional, health care and science practices. Prior to
    Thomas
    joining ESD, he was a director and the Americas Region Service Line Leader for HP Critical Facilities Services at Hewlett-Packard.  In this position, he led a team of data center consulting professionals who delivered engineering, construction, and consulting services to enterprise and institutional customers in Canada, Latin America, and the U.S.  Paul Barter, vice president/group leader of ESD’s commercial consulting engineering team. Barter will lead ESD’s Commercial team, designing building systems for facilities such as McCormick Place, Motorola Mobility at the Merchandise Mart, and O’Hare International Airport. He also is responsible for

    resource and project management assessments, strengthening marketplace awareness, and business development. Prior to joining ESD, Barter was Executive Director at ExteNet Systems in Lisle, IL.
