STURGIS, MI — Midwest Tool and Cutlery Company, a manufacturer of aviation snips, tinner snips, specialty tools and HVACR sheet metal hand tools, has been awarded two U.S. design patents for the company's proprietary Upright Snips® aviation snips.

Uprights Snips, introduced in the fall of 2004, are a compound leverage aviation snip that significantly improves cutting sheet metal and other materials for contractors. Upright Snips are rated to cut 24-gauge sheet metal (28-gauge stainless steel) and incorporate the same features and components as all Midwest Snips® aviation snips, including unbreakable hot drop-forged molybdenum steel blades, a threaded center pivot bolt to keep blades in adjustment and a heavy-duty, double-overwind spring.
