Did You Know? There's a 'Code War' over Pressed Fittings

Accepted industry research concludes that press-connect fittings are one of the most reliable methods for joining refrigerant piping. Brazing supporters say fittings will leak over time.

Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) reported recently on the “code war” being fought over eliminating the use of listed press-connect fittings for refrigeration, a method that is currently allowed by the Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC) and is in compliance with UL Standard 207.

ACCA’s Codes Subcommittee has been monitoring this development and has voiced its support for the continued use of press connect fittings as a viable and safe option to brazing.
