The New Year in the Residential Mechanical Systems Industry

Jan. 22, 2014
2 min read

The New Year presents us with many opportunities and new challenges. It’s not too late to reflect on 2013 and apply it to 2014. Contemplate what business strategies worked and what didn’t. Reflect on areas your company excels and places where there’s still room for improvement. Accept the idea that you may have to abandon strategies from last year and start from scratch for the New Year.

Make it a goal for your organization to be the dealer of choice as it relates to your community. That entails making your business a compelling place to work, shop, and invest. Here’s how to do it and apply it for 2014.

Steps to a Successful HVAC Business in 2014

1.    Employee development. Ensure that you have highly trained and motivated individuals working for you. Make sure that they have the tools, equipment, and education (training and development) to get the job done in an effective and efficient manner.

2.    Customer engagement. Make sure that each and every customer experience or contact with your company is a memorable interaction. Whether dealing with the techs, installers, sales people, CSRs, or management, the customer needs to be thoroughly impressed.

3.    Operational excellence. It is vital that you have your processes and procedures fine-tuned to ensure that your operation is profitable, respectful of the customers’ time, and makes full use of its capacities.

4.    Community involvement. Also, examine your standing in the community and make certain that your reputation is stellar. Do you support community activities? Does the name of your company roll off your customers’ tongues?
