Unico, Inc, a leading manufacturer of small-duct, high-velocity central heating and air conditioning systems, has added mini-split units and outdoor units to its offerings through a partnership with Italian manufacturer Argoclima, maker of Technibel HVAC products. These product additions will allow customers to efficiently heat and cool areas where space is at a premium even for small-duct systems.
Unico’s indoor components work in conjunction with Technibel indoor and outdoor components. For example, a Technibel split system can condition one area that has no space for ducting, while a Unico System supplies the rest of the structure. Technibel’s outdoor inverter unit can also be matched with Unico air handlers and the Technibel mini-split, allowing both to be used with a single outdoor unit, functioning as a heat pump or for cooling-only applications.
“We are not aware of any other company that offers small duct systems that pair up with mini-split systems,” said Scott Intagliata, Marketing Director at Unico, Inc. “It’s a unique offering that provides our customers more options when retrofitting heating and air conditioning in an older home, or when designing a new home.”
Unico’s revolutionary flexible small ducts weave through the smallest spaces—ceilings, walls, even floors -- allowing original architectural features to remain in place and keeping ductwork out of sight.
The Unico System outperforms conventional heating and cooling systems by utilizing a patented high velocity stream of conditioned air. This air is delivered quietly and seamlessly into rooms using 2-in. or 2.5-in. round outlets or an 8-in. x 3⁄4-in. slotted diffuser.
The Technibel line includes refrigerant-based outdoor inverter units that range in size from 1 to 4 tons, and feature a high SEER rating, making them incredibly energy efficient. The outdoor units compressor never “turns off,” rather it matches the power request of the indoor units. This means much more efficiency and energy savings because the compressor isn’t always cycling on and off. The inverter has an operating range from -25F to +122F.
The line also includes high wall indoor ductless mini-split units that generate less than 21 decibels of sound, for some of the quietest heating and cooling products in the industry. The outdoor units, at just 42dB, are also very quiet in comparison to traditional HVAC units.
Installation of the indoor mini-split units is made easy by the compact design and light weight (one model is 17.6 pounds, the other is 26.2 pounds).
About Unico
The Unico System is a small-duct, high-velocity central heating and air conditioning system manufactured by Unico Inc. Ideal for custom & new home construction, historic preservation and commercial applications, The Unico System takes less than one-fourth the space of a traditional HVAC system and can deliver up to 12 tons of air conditioning in the same space as a 3-ton traditional system. Quieter and less visible than other systems, The Unico System provides superior indoor comfort that is energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. For more information, visit www.unicosystem.com.
In 2013, Unico was named a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Challenge Home training partner. In this role, Unico is aligning with DOE to help shape the future of housing and anticipate how product-development efforts dovetail with net zero-energy ready homes.
