Finding and Hiring Great Employees

Nov. 7, 2016
Great sports teams always hire the best athletes, and it's the same for business. Always look to add talent to your team.

Looking for that diamond-in-the-rough new hire? A hidden gem superstar? There are several factors that go into ensuring the right employees are hired by your company. Here are some important factors:

Have an "always recruiting" mindset. Great sports teams always hire the best athletes, and it's the same for business. Always look to add talent to your team.

  1. Utilize many different recruiting sources. Internet, word of mouth, current employees, restaurants, etc. — utilize all of the resources at your disposal.
  2. Pre-qualify employees. Screen potential employees before interviewing in person. Please refrain from compromising your standards. If the person passes the initial screening, then pass them through the process.
  3. Follow up with qualified employees. Interview the applicants who pass the initial screening. It's advisable to have the prospect go through three interviews. You may contemplate having a potential peer involved in the interview process. This allows the company to get a well-rounded view of the applicant.
  4. Finally, hire employees with development in mind. Once the person is hired, get them involved in the organization as soon as possible. Make sure they understand the company culture, the importance of teamwork, and the career opportunities that are available within the company.

Adopting the above process will ensure that your company attracts and retains the individuals that make the company very successful. I wish you great recruiting.
