Emerson's Rajendran to Address Carrier Conference

Feb. 29, 2012
Conference theme is, "20/20 — The Future in Focus: Rethink, Restore, Regenerate."

Rajan Rajendran, vice president of engineering services and sustainability at Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc., a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), will share a global perspective on the important issue of refrigerants at Carrier's 11th Global Engineering Conference, scheduled for March 18-20, 2012 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Carrier will bring emerging building trends and environmental issues into focus through the event, which has the theme, "20/20 the Future in Focus: Rethink. Restore. Regenerate."

Rajendran will discuss how lower global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants are becoming available for air conditioning and heat pump applications, and how minimizing a system's life cycle impact on the environment should be the goal in narrowing options.

Rajendran will also discuss the pros and cons of the refrigerants being considered in the industry today and how these choices can affect direct emissions and energy consumption.

Rajan Rajendran has more than 20 years of experience in the research, development, and application of compressor products in refrigeration systems. His role as coordinator of the next generation of refrigerants work being done at Emerson has made him knowledgeable in alternate refrigerants work in air conditioning, heat pump and refrigeration systems in the United States and Europe, as well as Asia. He also serves on committees at the Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) and Underwriters Laboratory (UL), especially the Low GWP Alternative Refrigerants Evaluation Program Task Force at AHRI and the Working Groups for A2L Refrigerants at UL. In addition, he is the incoming chairman of the Compressor and Condensing Unit Section and the present Engineering Committee chair.

Emerson is participating in AHRI's industry-wide cooperative research program, Low GWP Alternative Refrigerants Evaluation Program (AREP). Online registration is now open for Carrier's 2012 Global Engineering Conference at 2012GEC.com.
