National Comfort Institute (NCI) has added Tempo Mechanical, Irving, TX as the 100th member its National Comfort Team, a performance-cased contracting membership organization. Tempo Mechanical, an industry leader in new construction work as well as service and replacement, is Contracting Business’ 2003 Residential Contractor of the Year (see CB, February 2003, p. 32). “We’re very excited about the growth and direction NCT has taken since it was launched in the Fall of 2002, and we’re delighted to welcome Steve Saunders and the employees of Tempo Mechanical as our 100th member,” says Dominick Guarino, CEO of NCI.. National Comfort Team is a membership-based organization created in response to numerous NCI graduates seeking more information and more opportunities to network with other performance-based contractors. NCT offers a members-only website with downloadable sales and marketing tools, technical procedures and reports, and exclusive articles and technical information. “We coined the term ‘performance-based contracting’ to best describe how NCI graduates, and in particular NCT members, approach HVAC system work,” says Guarino. According to Guarino, performance-based contracting provides a means for contractors to differentiate themselves from their competition by delivering measured performance in the systems they sell, install and service. This approach allows contractors to increase sales and profits by offering measured total-system solutions to comfort, safety, energy efficiency, and IAQ problems.
