Replaces Rex Boynton; pledges to deliver on NATE mission

North American Technician Excellence (NATE) has announced the resignation of its president, Rex Boynton, and the appointment of David R. Pannier, ex-president of Trane Residential Systems, as Interim President.

Pannier served in leadership roles on numerous industry boards, including NATE’s, before retiring from Trane in 2009,

“We appreciate and recognize Rex’s accomplishments and look forward to Dave’s leadership during this interim period as we search for NATE’s next President,” says NATE Chairman Ray Isaac, owner, Isaac Heating and Air Conditioning, Rochester, NY. Isaac is also a past chairman of Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA), and the 2002 recipient of the Contracting Business Residential Contractor of the Year Award.

“Dave’s knowledge of and respect within the HVACR industry, his commitment to the education and training of HVACR technicians, and his knowledge and support of NATE since its creation, will provide the leadership needed to move NATE forward in fulfilling its mission of recognizing the professionalism of HVACR technicians. As the industry’s primary technician certification program, NATE serves a very important role. Under Dave’s leadership, NATE will re-commit to expanding its reach and its value to the industry,” Isaac says.

In an exclusive interview with ContractingBusiness.com, Isaac praised Pannier as a leader who will help bring additional direction to NATE.

"Whenever an organization is going through a transition, a great leader provides the compass you need to determine which direction you should be going in," Isaac says. "Dave provides that vision."

Isaac adds that a key goal of NATE will be to build alliances with other HVAC entities.

"Certification will continue to be part of our long term strategy, to create the professionalism that NATE and myself have been strong proponents of, for a number of years," Isaac says.
