The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association (SMACNA) Board of Directors installed its executive committee to serve from Oct. 24, 2007 to Oct. 22, 2008.
The new officers are:
• President, Ronald Palmerick, AABCO Sheet Metal Co., Ridgewood, NY.
A third-generation sheet metal worker and accountant as well, Palmerick said he’s learned a lot from his 30-plus years in the business. “If you love this business, you’re a student of it and you never stop learning,” says Palmerick.
"It is an honor to have been selected to lead SMACNA and follow through on the outstanding programs and industry initiatives put in place by the leadership before me. I look at this year as SMACNA president as simply taking my turn at the seat. "I, like my predecessors, plan to provide the continuity and consistency of programs and policies that have served the Association well for many years now. There will be no big shift in direction." • President-Elect, John Ilten, Ilten’s Inc., Cedar Rapids, IA.
A former SMACNA board member from 1999 to 2003, Ilten currently is chairman of the Employees’ Pension Plan Trust, member of the SMACNA/SMWIA Residential Service/Add-On Subcommittee, and SFUA Article X Management Panelist. In addition, he is also a member of the Investment Committee.
• Secretary/Treasurer, John Lindemulder, Amber Mechanical Contractors, Alsip, IL. Lindemulder, has served two terms on the Board of Directors, and is chairman of the Investment Committee and Budget and Finance as well as officer liaison to the Products and Programs Coordinating Committee. In addition, he is a member of the Employees’ Pension Plan Trust and treasurer for SMACNA’s College of Fellows. His past service includes membership, on the Legislative Committee, the Convention Sponsorship Task Force as well as chairman of SMACN-IFUS.
• Vice President, James Boone, New England Sheet Metal Works, Fresno, CA. Boone is currently chairman of the Associate Member Committee and officer liaison to the Technical Resources Committee. In addition, he is also a member of the Employees’ Pension Plan Trust, National Joint Adjustment Board, the Labor Committee and the College of Fellows.
• Immediate Past President, Richard J. Cramer Sr., Dee Cramer Inc., Holly, MI
As SMACNA president Cramer encouraged members to get involved in the organization by serving on committees and task forces both local and national. He advised members and chapters to get young people involved in the industry.
"As my term as president comes to a close, I would like to thank all of the people who gave freely of their time and knowledge to serve on SMACNA’s task forces, committees, trusts and board of directors," Cramer said, in a speech made during the annual SMACNA conference in October.
"You deserve a huge thank you for your dedication to our industry. I hope more of you will consider serving on a national committee or task force in the coming years. I have been involved for over 35 years and believe me you will get back more than you have ever imagined. It is truly a rewarding experience."
