Generac® Power Systems, Inc., Waukesha, WI announced it successfully launched the industry’s first standby power symposium. Titled the Generac Engineering Power Symposium, May 3-6, 2009,

The 50-year-old manufacturer of standby power equipment invited engineers and architects from all over the country to convene in Milwaukee, WI for the Generac Engineering Power Symposium, May 306 2009.

The event was a three-day journey into the world of standby power. Attendees were treated to insightful sessions on recent EPA rulings, determining energy loads at telecommunications facilities and the latest innovations in standby power.

“We're proud that we were able to assemble an outstanding group of industry experts, factory trainers and industry partners to provide attendees with the most complete learning experience possible,” says Aaron Jagdfeld, president and CEO, Generac. “Additionally, we're pleased with how the industry turned out for our event and education programs. We plan to continue offering similar programs in the years to come.”

Seminars were crafted specifically for practicing engineers whose goal was to expand their understanding of current technologies, sizing, codes and standards, switching technologies and reliable design characteristics surrounding emergency power systems. The symposium included Generac’s Professional Development Seminar Series, which consisted of 10 individual, 2-hour sessions that offered both architects and engineers valuable information not only on these topics but also on the methodology behind standby power.

The symposium was created as a joint effort with the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). Participants who attended the symposium and the lunch and learn breakout sessions were eligible for 20 Professional Development Hours (PDH) accredited by the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

One of the main goals of the first engineering power symposium was to provide attendees with the material and learning experiences that are core to understanding the applications and advances associated with standby power. When attendees were not learning about the ins and outs of standby power, they were treated to guest speakers William J. McCoy and Steven Griffin, standby power experts. Additionally, guests were invited to tour Generac’s Eagle and Waukesha facilities and to participate in special outings to some of the local area attractions.

Since 1959, Generac Power Systems, Inc., has been a leading, innovative manufacturer and marketer of portable and standby generators, automatic transfer switches, modular paralleling systems, and small engines for recreational vehicle, residential, and commercial applications.
