The Building Performance Institute, Inc., Malta, NY, a national credentialing authority for the building performance industry, announced today that its Chief Executive Officer, William J. Parlapiano III, CIAQ, is departing after leading the organization through a successful national expansion.
BPI is an independent, third-party provider of building science-based certification and accreditation credentials delivered through a national network of affiliates.
Under Parlapiano's leadership, BPI has grown to 11 employees and has just completed the most successful year in the organization's history. Among those accomplishments include more than doubling the affiliate network to 15 organizations serving a widespread geographic area across much of the U.S. and into Canada.
Since 1996, more than 3,000 professionals have earned an individual BPI certification, with a record number approaching 1,000 certifications awarded in 2006. Parlapiano has helped to restructure BPI policies and procedures relating to certification, accreditation, and quality assurance and in communicating these changes to the marketplace.
Parlapiano now plans to meet with many stakeholder groups that BPI says need to be educated about the opportunities in the home performance industry and present them with the opportunities on how to get engaged and turned into profit centers by providing them with solutions.
