After "Bryantman," Tony Kanaan is next in line for Bryant superhero status, thanks to his string of racing victories thus far in 2007.
Kanaan, racing for Andretti Green Racing, won the recent Firestone Indy 500 at the Michigan International Speedway, Brooklyn, MI.
Kanaan took the checkered flag earlier this year at the Milwaukee Mile, and also came in first at the Indy Japan 300 in April. With the Firestone win, Kanaan moved closer to the IndyCar Series championship lead, trailing Scott Dixon by 57 points for second place. AGR teammate Dario Franchitti is the series leader.
Bryant recently celebrated another three victories: the heating and cooling company was honored with three Consumers Digest Best Buy awards in less than a year for its top-of-the-line heat pump, gas furnace and air conditioner.
“We congratulate Tony and the Andretti Green Racing team for their exceptional performance this season,” says Rick Sanfrey, president, residential systems, Bryant Heating Cooling Systems. “Race after race, the team continues to display a strong Whatever It Takes spirit, like the thousands of dedicated Bryant dealers across the country.”
Kanaan is only the fourth driver to have ten IndyCar Series career victories. He has 60 top-ten finishes, and has had seven pole positions, including the 89th running of the Indy 500. In 2004, Kanaan won the IndyCar Series championship and he finished as runner-up in 2005.
IndyCar Series events provide Bryant with a unique opportunity to reach out to new dealers who might be interested in joining the team. Bryant supports the league and offers dealers and distributors an opportunity to attend races and support Tony Kanaan and the AGR team in its run for the checkered flag. Nicole Colborn, Bryant Training Manager, hosted a group of Bryant dealers from distributor Behler-Young’s territory, and the group was fortunate enough to join Kanaan in victory lane following the win.
Bryant made its debut in auto racing at the 1958 Indianapolis 500 when Eddie Johnson became the sponsor’s first Indy 500 qualifier. Since then, Bryant has sponsored more than 30 drivers, including Eddie Sachs, Rodger Ward, Janet Guthrie, Sarah Fisher, Scott Brayton, Arie Luyendyk, Al Unser, Jr. and Scott Sharp.
