Zone-A-Trol™ is changing its name to ZONEFIRST™, to distinguish itself from the popular “Trol” zoning names previously used, while alluding to the company’s history as the first company to enter the forced air zoning market, almost 50 years ago.
While Zonefirst’s parent company developed and marketed zoning systems since the early 1960s, Zone-A-Trol was also a name synonymous with hydronic zoning dating back to the 1950s. Trolex’s founder created the Zone-A-Trol name for the hydronic market and invented the original motorized dampers and registers in the late 1950’s, even before starting the forced air products that became synonymous with zoning for over 40 years.
The Zonefirst name signfies that the company was the first to zone, and that it also intends to send the message to the industry that zoning must be the first consideration when designing any and all HVAC systems..
“Zoning is always included in every hydronic and radiant heating system,” says Zonefirst President Dick Foster.
“Commercial systems are designed with VAV, which is just another form of zoning and now even the auto industry is embracing multi-zone climate control in their new car ads. Why shouldn’t the residential and light commercial HVAC Designers and Installers do the same?”
Zonefirst says it was the first to develop and market simple zoned heating and cooling systems in the early 1960s, the first to develop a centralized control, the first to zone heat pumps in the early 1970s and today still continues the tradition by simplifying the installation of zoning with its new Retro-Round™ Insertable Motorized Round Damper with plug-in connectors and new, color coded wiring terminals.
The company’s new website is www.zonefirst.com and further information can be obtained by calling 1-877-604-1044 or e-mail at [email protected].
