At HVAC Comfortech 2011, 12 products were recognized as Product Showcase Award winners. Judges took into consideration the ease with which HVAC contractors can apply the technology, and the technical value of the product or service to the HVAC industry. We’ll feature these products each month in upcoming issues of Contracting Business. This month, we’re featuring GeoConnection’s LoopLink, the winner in the Software category. For additional information on any of the products listed here, circle the appropriate number(s) on the reader service card at the back of this issue or visit www.contractingbusiness.com/freeinfo.html.
LoopLink Takes Top Prize in Software Category
LoopLink, designed by GeoConnections is a web-based ground source heat pump design software made especially for the residential and light commercial markets.
LoopLink gives designers the tools to size equipment and loopfields with accuracy. It offers comprehensive economic analysis and professionally designed project reports to assist in the sale of ground source heat pump systems. LoopLink streamlines the workflow of mechanical contractors and simplifies everything from the initial design estimate to heat pump selection, to loopfield design, company sources say. The software doesn’t have to be installed or downloaded, so it’s always up-to-date.

Two New Fans Offer Increase in Coverage Area
Powerfoil X2.0, the newest industrial fan from the Big Ass Fan Company, significantly increases the coverage area and warranty of the company’s popular Powerfoil X.
Released on May 1, 2012, the Powerfoil X2.0 introduces a unique new patented airfoil system — a system that combines patented airfoils and winglets with patent-pending AirFence technology to increase overall coverage by 28%. The winglet improves airfoil effectiveness by eliminating efficiency-robbing turbulence at the tip, while the AirFence captures air that would otherwise slip off the end of the airfoil
The Yellow Jacket mister fan is now available with a high-pressure misting system and an oscillator. These two improvements, combined with Yellow Jacket’s established airflow, translate to a cooling effect equivalent to 11 tons of air conditioning.
The Yellow Jacket has many accessories and mounting options. In any version or approved mount, the Yellow Jacket retains its quiet operation, durable construction, 11 adjustable speeds and a limited lifetime warranty.

Fujitsu Introduces its Highest SEER Mini-split Heat Pump
Fujitsu General America, Inc. introduceds a new, Halcyon split-system heat pump line with equipment that achieves up to 27.2 SEER.
The new RLS2 line of heat pumps offers 9, 12 and 15,000 BTU models with increased heating performance, newly designed chassis, and the ESP energy saving program.
The heat pump’s heating mode is operational with outdoor ambient temperatures down to -5F producing 75% or more of the system’s rated capacity. The system produces 100% of heating capacity down to 20F.
If occupants leave the room without turning it off, ESP knows that they left and, 20 minutes later, temperature is increased by 4F when cooling and reduced by 8F when heating. When they return, the system returns to previous operating mode.
